The Election Commission is a Constitutional body of the Undergraduate Council charged with the non-partisan administration of free and fair elections at Harvard College.
The Election Commission is composed of seven members, with one serving as Chair. Up to three members (excepting the Chair) may be members of the Undergraduate Council.
The Election Commission is charged with the following duties: (1) publicizing elections around campus (2) making candidacy forms available to all interested parties, responsibly collecting them, and validating all nomination forms of potential candidates (3) coordinating election procedures with the appropriate parties necessary to carry out electronic voting (4) tallying ballots and promptly notifying candidates of their election status (5) monitoring the spending guidelines outlined in these bylaws (6) establishing other guidelines and rules necessary to properly carry out any Undergraduate Council, provided that such rules are consistent with the Undergraduate Council Constitution and these by-laws. The Election Commission shall have the authority to expel or otherwise punish candidates in any election who do not comply with the Undergraduate Council Constitution, bylaws, or Election Commission guidelines and policies.
